Noted collage artist, poet, and translator, Claude Pélieu (1934-2002) and his wife Mary Beach translated the works of Beat writers (Burroughs, Ferlinghetti, and others) into French and often collaborated with writers/artists in the Beat and avant-garde circles in New York and San Francisco.
